Arab Spring and changing realities in the Middle East. September 17, 2011.
The lecture had been conducted by Mr. Azad Garibli (Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan). Lecturer tried to critically overlook recent turmoil and uprisings in the Middle East, particularly in Tunisia, Libya and Egypt, emphasizing the causes, process and achievements that had been reached as result of these events. At the same time, Mr. Garibli tried to touch other courtiers, in example of Syria, Yemen, where uprisings are currently happening. In the view of these events, Mr. Garibli also analyzed the approaches and reactions of major powers of the region, as Turkey, Israel and Iran to these events and tried to summarize and give some forecasts on future political programs of these states. The lecture was held with the presence of about 47 students of different Azerbaijan Universities. Following the lecture, a broad discussion had been initiated and students were able to ask questions, share their own thoughts and views and have short debates.
